Uzimo: The Natural Holistic Expo – July 2012

On Saturday 28th July 2012, we attended the Uzimo: The Natural Holistic Expo at Conway Hall in London. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the events, which was like a family reunion as there was so many faces I knew, not seen in a while. At the entrance, there was a lovely display of vegan/raw food which looked divine. There were loads of stalls selling their creations, which ranged from clothing to limited edition images. As I had a day pass, I attended a few of the workshops on offer such as the Sickle Cell Awareness Workshop, How to Care for Your Locks and the Motivational Skills workshop which were good. The children were fully catered for and my daughter enjoyed the hula hoop and drumming session with her friends who she had joined up with on the day. I have brilliant video of her singing Bob Marley on the stage; she must get that from her father.  It was a family atmosphere as everyone worked together and was in good spirits.

After the main event, there were some performances by Empress J, Comfort, Floetic Lara, Lyrical Healer and Ebele, which were brilliant. We have some beautiful talent in the community. We were treated to a fashion show by Dres Designs and a Natural Hair show and then finally some drumming and acrobatics from One Drum from Ghana, which was amazing. I left the event exhausted but satisfied. I would like to congratulate Sister Ester and Sister Michelle for a successful event. I’m looking forward to the next one!
