Sankofa Saturday – Black Economics is Black Self Defence – Saturday 2nd August 2014

BEEOn Saturday 2nd August 2014, I delivered a presentation on ‘Black Economics is Black Self Defence’ at the Marcus Garvey Library in Tottenham as part of our Sankofa Saturday sessions. Sankofa Saturdays are free events that Black History Studies run at the Marcus Garvey Library, our way of giving back to the community we live in.

The ‘Black Economics is Black Self Defence’ presentation looked at the basic frameworks for building community economics and presented some practical solutions to achieve Black Economic Empowerment. We reflected and was inspired by some of ourhistorical economic successes and discussed ways to build new ones.

I am was happy with the brilliant turnout for our presentation and screening of ‘Before They Die: The True Story of the Survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot.” We had a lovely progressive discussion at the end of the session.

Thank you to Sis Dawn Golbourne for her support with these events.
